Then you will know when and how to wash your hands, what temperature to cook your hamburger to, how to defrost food, how to store food in your refrigerator, what can happen if you don’t wash your lettuce, and much more. Especially if you have small children, a pregnant woman, grandparents dining with you, they are MORE likely to get sick, and maybe die.
Guess what, The Center for Disease Control (CDC) estimates 48 million cases of foodborne illness per year in the U. S., with 128,000 hospitalizations and 3000 deaths. It is now accepted that many cases of foodborne illness occur as a result of improper food handling and preparation by consumers in their own kitchens. Some of the most compelling evidence has come from the international data on Salmonella species and Campylobacter species infections.
